As the Banakacharla project is being opposed by Telangana Government, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday told his Cabinet colleagues to tell facts to the people on the need to take up the project.

At the Cabinet meeting held here, Naidu said the Rs.82,000-crore project envisaged to link three river basins was mainly aimed at using water which is going waste. The State Government officials in a preliminary estimate pointed out that 3,000 TMC is available at a 100 year average in the Godavari river and it will help both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in drought mitigation if projects are built..

Stating that the project mooted by Andhra Pradesh will not cause any loss to Telangana, he said Andhra Pradesh will launch a huge campaign to allay the misconceptions on taking up Polavaram-Banakacharla Link Project (PBLP).

The Telangana Government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has already announced its resolve to oppose the project lock, stock and barrel.
